People moves: Jonathan Kuai promoted to legal chief at Korn Ferry

Plus Stanley Black & Decker, SiriusXM and Rolls-Royce add to their legal teams

Global consulting firm Korn Ferry has promoted Jonathan Kuai to the position of chief people and legal officer.

Kaui was formerly general counsel, corporate secretary and managing director of ESG and business affairs at the company.

After joining Korn Ferry in 2010, it was under his tenure that the company won the trophy for best proxy statement (mid-cap) at the 2025 Corporate Governance Awards in New York.

In a LinkedIn post, Kuai writes: ‘I am deeply humbled and honored to step into the role of Korn Ferry’s chief people and legal officer. Leading our legal, people and business affairs functions, across more than 50 countries and supporting the nearly 10,000 colleagues who bring our firm to life every day, is a responsibility I accept with gratitude and reverence.’

Over at Stanley Black & Decker, Francesca Campbell has been named SVP, general counsel and corporate secretary.She succeeds Janet Link who in October announced that she was leaving the company.

Speaking about her appointment, Chris Nelson, president and CEO praises Campbell’s ‘exceptional legal acumen and bold leadership in tackling complex challenges and advancing corporate governance have made a lasting impact wherever she has served.’

Campbell joins from climate and energy solutions provider Carrier, where she served as SVP and chief legal officer. During her time at Carrier, she also held the position of VP of legal affairs and served as the corporate secretary for the board of directors.

Prior to joining Carrier, Campbell served as an attorney at Davis Polk & Wardwell.

Meanwhile, Nasdaq-listed audio entertainment companySiriusXM has named Eve Konstan as EVP, chief legal officer and secretary. She succeeds Richard Baer, who is retiring.

Before coming to SiriusXM, Konstan served as general counsel at Spotify Technology. Prior to Spotify, she spent more than 20 years with WarnerMedia Entertainment and HBO, where she served in a variety of senior legal positions including EVP and general counsel for both organizations.

‘Eve brings deep legal expertise across audio and the broader media landscape, and her appointment reinforces the strength of our leadership team during a period of focused execution,’ says Jennifer Witz, CEO of SiriusXM.

Last week, The Commodity Futures Trading Commission(CFTC) appointed Tyler Badgley as the agency’s new general counsel.

‘Tyler is an incredibly talented and experienced lawyer. He will be a huge asset to the Commission as it develops new regulatory frameworks for emerging markets and defends its exclusive authority over derivatives markets, both new and old,’ says the FTC’s chairman Michael Selig.

Badley joins the CFTC from the US Department of the Treasury where he served as deputy general counsel and before that as executive secretary. Prior to that, he was senior counsel to the US Senate Committee on the Judiciary.

Badley succeeds Meghan Tente who has served as acting general counsel since January 2025. ‘I am very pleased she will continue serving the Commission as a Senior Advisor within my office,’ Selig adds.

Sticking with agency news, the SEC has appointed Demetrios Logothetis as chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), serving a term that will end on October 24, 2030.

Logothetis currently serves on the board of The Republic Bank of Chicago, where he chairs the audit committee as well on the advisory council of CrossCountry Consulting, a privately owned consultancy. In 2019, he retired from EY after forty years with the firm.

‘The newly appointed chairman and board members have already demonstrated a profound commitment to protecting investors and responsible use of such funds by accepting compensation much more in line with the ethos of public service,’ says Paul Atkins, SEC chairman.

Elsewhere, Silvia Merino-Topley has been promoted to the position of SVP and chief compliance officer at Kearny Bank.

Merino-Topley joined the company in 2020 as second VP and senior compliance officer before being promoted to first VP in 2022.

‘Management of client risk requires significant attention to detail, along with knowledge and skills that are developed only through experience,’ says Michael Valente, first SVP and chief risk officer. ‘Silvia’s promotion reflects her expertise and leadership in a demanding field, plus work that consistently benefits our clients and our company.’

Lastly, Maria Varsellona is set to join Rolls-Royce as chief legal officer next month, after stepping down as CLO at Unilever.

In a LinkedIn post she says: ‘It is an iconic company with a remarkable record of excellence. I look forward to this next chapter and to collaborating with my new colleagues.’
