Environmental technology provider Atlantic Power & Infrastructure (AP&I) has appointed Stephanie Williams to the role of secretary of the board, officer of government affairs, officer of environmental affairs and officer of corporate governance.
As secretary of the board, Williams will oversee board documentation, shareholder records and governance deliverables, while her new role as officer of government affairs will see her engagement with regulatory bodies, manage compliance pathways, support industrial bond initiatives and guide AP&I’s policy positioning.
Asofficer of environmental affairs,she will lead sustainability integration, including wildfire remediation and green technology deployment. Asofficer of corporate governance, Williams will refine governance frameworks, bylaws, and committee charters.
Elsewhere A.O. Smith, a provider of water heating and water treatment, has named Paul Jones as SVP general counsel and chief compliance officer, effective as of October 1.
Jones replaces Jim Stern, the company’s EVP, general counsel and secretary, who has been promoted to the role of EVP of corporate development, strategy and secretary.
Jones joined A. O. Smith in 2023 as VP of corporate development and strategy. Before this, he was a partner at Foley & Lardner inMilwaukee.
Meanwhile, GE Vernova has confirmed thatLola Linwill join the company asEVP, chief legal officer and corporate secretary as well as a member of the company’s executive leadership team, effective from September 15.
She joins GE Vernova from Howmet Aerospace where she served as EVP, chief legal and compliance officer and secretary. Before that, she served as SVP and general counsel for Airgas.
In addition, she has held various roles at Air Liquide USA, Dell, Sutherland Asbill & Brennan and Locke Liddell & Sapp.
Over in Indianapolis, Indiana, agricultural firm Corteva has named Jennifer Johnsonas its new chief legal officer, effectiveSeptember 15.
Johnson formerly served as general counsel and corporate secretary of International Flavors and Fragrances, after working at DuPont as associate general counsel since 2017.
Johnson will succeedCornel Fuerer, the company’s current chief legal and public affairs officer and corporate secretary, who will stay on until the end of 2025 to ensure smooth transition.
Fuerer will remain a member of the company’s leadership team, serving as strategic advisor, until his retirement in 2026.
Meanwhile, Nasdaq-listed Zentalis Pharmaceuticalshas hired James Bucher as chief legal officer and corporate secretary, effective September 18.
He succeeds Andrea Paul who has served as Zentalis’ chief legal officer and corporate secretary since 2022. Paul is leaving the role to join a large, international law firm.
Bucher joins Zentalis from Harpoon Therapeutics where he served as chief legal officer. Before this, he served as executive vice president, general counsel and head of human resources at Eliem Therapeutics.
Over in Australia, Qantas Airways has named Kate Towey as general counsel and company secretary.
Prior to joining the airline, she served as a partner at interview law firm Allens. She also sits on the boards of several organizations including Property Council of Australia and the Law Council of Australia.
At the same time, VDM Group, an Australian engineering and construction company, has named Paul Hardie as its new company secretary.
Hardie enters the role with more than 20 years of legal experience across a range of sectors including mining, construction, manufacturing, and financial services.
He succeeds Michael Fry who resigned from the role as of August 31, with Hardie assuming the role as of September 1.
