Governance Intelligence looks back on the most read stories of 2025 and what that means for changing governance priorities

Nasdaq-listed Gilead Sciences has named Keeley Wettan as its EVP, general counsel, legal and compliance.

Effective immediately, she will join the company’s senior leadership team and report to chairman and CEO Daniel O’Day.

Wettan has been with Gilead for 14 years, during which time she has held a number of senior legal leadership roles, most recently as SVP leading the global legal business partners team.

Before that, she led the litigation and government investigations and the corporate governance and strategic transactions teams.She also currently serves as the chair of the board of the Gilead Foundation.

Prior to joining Gilead, Keeley was an attorney at the law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett where her practice focused on general litigation and government investigations.

At the same time, Parsons Corporation has named John Martinez as the company’s next chief legal officer, effective February 16, 2026.

Martinez succeeds incumbent chief legal officer Mike Kolloway who retires in the second quarter of 2026 but will stay with the company as an advisor to ensure a seamless transition.

Martinez enters the role having previously served as chief legal officer and corporate secretary for Maximus and as VP and general counsel for GE Aerospace. He also held successive legal roles with Raytheon Technologies subsidiaries, including serving as VP and general counsel for Raytheon Intelligence and Space and VP and general counsel for Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services.

Before this, he served in senior executive roles in the US Intelligence Community with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Central Intelligence Agency.

TSX-listed Alithya Group has appointed David Torralbo as its chief legal officer and corporate secretary.

Torralbo most recently served as the chief legal officer at LeddarTech Holdings, an AI-driven software company that he helped lead through a public market debut.

Prior roles include chief legal officer of Nouveau Monde Graphite and Atrium Innovations. Before that, Torralbo was a partner in the corporate group at Davies, Ward, Phillips & Vineberg.

Elsewhere, Jim Plohg has joined Ashford, Ashford Hospitality Trust and Braemar Hotels & Resorts as EVP, general counsel and secretary. Plohg most recently served the Ashford Group of companies as division general counsel and managing director, having joined the company in 2014.

Prior to his current role, Plohg held increasingly senior legal positions at Ashford and earlier served in leadership roles at multi-billio-dollar alternative investment firms and family offices. He began his career at Norton Rose Fulbright.
